Agreed. Lots of service people are asked to do a lot of things that many of us cannot expect to understand, for strategic goals that many of us may not agree with. The personal and professional sacrifices they make in the line of duty are amazing, especially when you step back and consider the community building and aid development that they’re trained to do.
Anyway, too often its easy to think of the military as a large machine full of cogs, but everyone serving is doing it for the safety and security of their loved ones… and ultimately, the sacrifice they’re willing to make almost literally out of selflessness deserves more than just a single day of gratitude. But these people, our friends, need to know that we appreciate them for those ideals and the security they seek to provide thanklessly.
